Important (Guiding) Questions
What would it take to colonize Mars?
Time, money, and a lot of human effort. First, we have to get the materials to Mars with the assistance of probes and preemptive launches of robots. Those robots would get to Mars, build the pods, prepare the area, etc. Then, once we FULLY done, the area that our astronauts would be living in is safe, complete, and ready for life, we would send our people to colonize Mars. This project would cost billions of dollars, many years, and a lot of effort. Human, and robotic. There are many technologies require to first get to Mars, and then also required to live on Mars. (See our "Space Technologies Page"). Plus, we would need Green energy. At the very starting point, we aren't going to be able to look for Fossil Fuels. If there would even be any on Mars. Solar and Wind would be our main source of power, at they are renewable and quite easy to harvest.
